ArtNews on appropriation art

Story here, covering various artists and controversies, including Richard Prince and Bob Dylan.  I like this remix of "standing on the shoulders of giants":
“Appropriation art brings masterpieces to a whole new generation,” says veteran appropriation artist Mike Bidlo, who has rendered exact replicas of works by Jackson Pollock, Henri Matisse, Duchamp, and Warhol, all based on postcards and reproductions of the originals. “New generations need blood to live. Yes, they need fresh blood continually. If we have to do that by standing on the shoulders of giants and penetrating their necks like vampires, then that’s the spice of life.”
I wonder when, if at all, these stories will start mentioning the CMI provisions of the DMCA.
