transformative use of the day

Ida Frosk makes portraits on toast, to be eaten: are they fixed in a tangible medium of expression?  (Does the photo fix the toast portrait, or only the picture of the toast portrait?)

I asked this as an exam question once, except the medium was the waffle (famous works waffle iron). My answer was yes, both as to the iron making the waffles and as to the waffles themselves.
