Passing on from Amy Mudge:
This is an exciting time to be an FTC lawyer -- both working at and practicing before the agency, both for consumer protection and competition lawyers, as President Obama’s appointees are now in place and constitute a majority of the Commission. This is also an historic time for women FTC lawyers, as Julie Brill and Edith Ramirez fill the new slots, while Pamela Jones Harbour transitions back to private practice. The Consumer Protection Committees (Consumer Protection, Privacy & Data Security, and Private Advertising Litigation), along with the Membership & Equal Opportunity Committee of the Antitrust Section, thought there was no more appropriate time to gather in DC and celebrate women in consumer protection and antitrust practice and to honor Julie, Edith and Pam for current, future and past service. We will also celebrate women in ABA leadership, including Julie who has served as a Vice Chair on the Consumer Protection Committee. We look forward to your attendance on June 9, 2010 at Arnold & Porter’s DC office from 6-8 pm for a women’s cocktail party. To RSVP, please follow the click through link in the attached (pdf). There is no charge for this event*, but space is limited so please register early. *If you are subject to the Obama pledge and wish to pay the estimated per person cost to attend the event, please email douglasd@staff.abanet.org.
